Fly fishing for bass as a serious pursuit is
really only starting to take off, and we are in just about one of
the best spots in the country! Our shining jewel is Presque
Isle State Park, which includes a long Penninsula and our bay,
which provides flats style fishing in a protected enviroment for
Smallmouth, Largemouth, Pike and Carp! Equipment for
effectively fishing here is simple. Most of us use saltwater
style 8 weight 9 foot rod with a decent reel and a floating
line. Flies used are poppers in sizes 6 and 10 (use any color
you like, as long as its black....), Clouser minnows, gummy
minnows, polar fibre minnows, crease flies, deerhair poppers, big
pike flies and the like. If you are interested in coming up
for a great warm water trip, let us know and we will be happy to
tell you all you need to know.
